The Chinese international trade center complex haa made a proposal for Wigans Westwood Park; this would include a casino complex which could lead to jobs for up to 2,000 people within the Wigan South Central regeneration area.

Revealed last July, the Chinese international trade center complex projected for Wigan’s Westwood Park will now have a casino complex within. The Wigan’s Westwood Park in UK will employ 2,000 people.

Martin Kimber, the Metro’s director of development and regeneration has disclosed a tie up deal from the Chinese to develop rights for the rest of the land. The South Wigan and Ince Economic Development Zone and Wigan South Central regeneration area with the Chinese to engage a grant to back investment.

Mr. Kimber is positive with the investment and the deal would be a ‘win, win situation’. Benefits would include a number of jobs and would attract more visitors. He reports: “They are seeking an exclusivity agreement to secure the site and enable further work in developing the project to be undertaken.

“This is an extremely positive and exciting development of the discussions. The trade center would be the largest Chinese investment in the UK and would be of international importance. By asking for an exclusivity agreement, the Chinese investors are setting out clearly their ambition and commitment to working with the Council and partners to make the scheme happen.”

Mr. Kimber added: “Initial discussions suggest a development of sizeable scale that would attract significant numbers of visitors, and open up substantial employment opportunities. The intention would be for Westwood to accommodate the trade center, and the hotel, while other elements would be redirected to nearby sites under discussion.”
